About Newry
Newry is situated in the south-east of Ulster, in a valley between the Mourne Mountains and the Ring of Gullion. Therefore, the western half of the city is in County Armagh and the eastern half is in County Down. The Clanrye River runs through the city, parallel to the Newry Canal and therefore forms the historic border between County Armagh and County Down.
