Crossmaglen is a village and townland in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Consequently, it is the largest village in South Armagh. The Irish name is Crois Mhic Lionnáin which means “Lennon’s Cross”. It is said, in the 18th Century there was a shebeen (an illegal pub) owned by a man called Owen Lennon. The village today is sometimes known locally as the “Cross”.
