About Camlough
Camlough (also known as Cam Lough) is a village in South Armagh about 5km from Newry. Similarly, the Irish name for Camlough is Camloch meaning “Crooked Lane”. The shape of the nearby lake (Cam Lough) is how it got the name.
In addition, Camlough Mountain is in the same vicinity and itself is contained within the famous Ring Of Gullion. Schools associated with Camlough include St. Malachy’s Primary and St Paul’s High School. On the Quarter Road, Camlough there was previously located the Camlough National School first built in 1835.
